Charity golf event raises $258,825
A record $258,825 was raised for the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific on Wednesday at the First Hawaiian Bank REHAB Golf Challenge.
University of Hawaii football Coach Greg McMackin and tournament chairman Anthony Guerrero Jr. of First Hawaiian led the fundraising event, with 288 golfers participating at the Hawaii Prince Course.
The tournament, in its 14th year and fourth sponsored by the bank, has raised more than $2.1 million for the hospital, the only acute-care medical rehabilitation facility serving Hawaii and the Pacific region.
Funds will be used for scholarships for hospital personnel to advance their skills and for charity care so no patients are denied services for inability to pay.
