Punahou eyes 4 more titles

While there were plenty of upsets on the boys side of the bracket in yesterday's Hawaii High School Athletic Association state tennis matches on the Big Island, the one constant is Punahou is on its way to capturing the championships in boys and girls.
Punahou's Doug Ho pulled off upsets in the quarterfinals and semifinals in boys singles and faces second-seeded Fernando Aguirregomezcorta of St. Joseph's in the final. The top-seeded Buffanblu's doubles team of Alex Ching and Erik Shoji was upset by Pearl City's Jordan Lum and Taylor Pacarro, who have to knock off Punahou's third-seeded doubles team today to claim the title.
The girls side of the bracket remained steady and true with top singles seed Kristen Lim of Punahou moving on to play second seed Jackie Owens of Lahainaluna. The top Punahou doubles team of Ashley Ohira and Ashley Nakaoka will meet No. 2 seed Kelsey Daguio and Kelly Domingo of Sacred Hearts in today's final.
It will be an all-ILH final in water polo after top seed Punahou upended Lahainaluna 14-4 and Kamehameha held off Kahuku 8-5. It was the first loss of the year for the Red Raiders, while the Buffanblu improved their record to 10-0.
The ILH dominated in the Division I state baseball tournament as well after Saint Louis edged Pearl City 2-1 and will face No. 1 Punahou in tonight's championship at Les Murakami Stadium. The Buffanblu blanked Maui 9-0.
