Local golfers on target at tournaments
It seems every week of late that local professionals Dean Wilson, Parker McLachlin and Tadd Fujikawa are grabbing headlines with their golf games.
Nearly two weeks ago, Fujikawa won his first professional event at the Mid-Pac Open and then made the cut yesterday at The Crowns tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. He followed up his opening two rounds of even-par 140 with a 4-over 74 in today's third round that dropped him into a tie for 57th with fellow local golfer Gregory Meyer (71) at 4-over 214.
Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour, Wilson and McLachlin made the cut at the prestigious Wachovia Championship. Wilson, who has struggled this year, shot a 3-under 69 yesterday for a two-day total of 4-under 140, good enough for a tie for eighth.
McLachlin barely made the cut with an even-par 72 that left him at 1-over 145.
