Warriors drop to 12th in poll
The Hawaii men's volleyball team opened the season with one win in three matches. Yesterday, the Warriors dropped one spot to 12th in the CSTV/AVCA Coaches Top 25.
Hawaii (1-2) was ranked No. 11 in the preseason. The Warriors lost to the two teams that traded place in the poll: Penn State moved to No. 3 and UCLA fell to No. 4.
Remaining in the top two spots were Brigham Young (0-0) and Pepperdine (0-0). Stanford (2-0), which finished second at last weekend's Elephant Bar Invitational, jumped eight places from 13th to fifth.
At No. 6 is Long Beach State (2-0), Hawaii's opponent for this week's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener. The Warriors host the 49ers in 7 p.m. matches Thursday and Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
