Howard Ayau, 70, of Kailua, a retired Honolulu airport air traffic controller and Central Security Alarm technician, died in Kailua. He was born in Puunene, Maui. He is survived by wife Myrna, sons Scot and Ivan, daughter Susan Hong, brother Alma, sisters Nancy Paulos and Jeanete Mamizuka, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Charlie L. Fair, 60, of Kaneohe, a Marine Corps master sergeant who served in the Vietnam War and on President Nixon's honor guard, died. He was born in Fort Gaines, Ga. He is survived by wife Naomi; sons Simon and Dale; daughters Stephanie Johnson and Cassandra Fair; foster son Thomas Mokulua; brothers Willie G., Carl J., Ronald J., Reginald L. and Robert P.; sister Marlvine; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
