TRIPLE CROWN SURFING
Hawaii surfers have little trouble
Hawaii's Megan Abubo had the highest single wave score yesterday to advance to today's Round Three of the Billabong Pro Maui women's surf competition.
Abubo, the current Triple Crown point leader, finished third in Round One and needed to finish in the top two of Round Two or be eliminated. She scored a 9.25 on her first wave en route to winning the heat with a 15.05.
Hawaii's Melanie Bartels won her Round One heat and Keala Kennelly was second in hers to automatically advance to today's competition. Also advancing out of Round Two was Hawaii's Rochelle Ballard.
The only Hawaii surfer eliminated yesterday was Leilani Gryde, finishing third in both her heats.
