Wahine continue to cruise
The Rainbow Wahine soccer team stated its case as the premier team in the Western Athletic Conference with a 2-1 victory over Fresno State yesterday.
Ambree Ako scored both goals for Hawaii, which defeated last year's regular-season and postseason WAC champion in a span of 48 hours.
Hawaii hasn't lost a game in 10 home matches, but will play its next three games on the road, where it hasn't won all year.
UH's Spector gets top finish in sailing
Hawaii's Mark Spector earned a first-place finish in the Pacific Coast Sailing Singlehanded Championship.
Two other Hawaii sailors finished in the top 10 -- Peter Wenner at No. 5 and William Peterson at No. 6.
Spector led the 24 sailors with an 81-point finish, and he qualified for the Nationals Singlehanded regatta in Seattle, Nov. 2-4.
Vulcans beat Antelopes in 2 overtimes
Hawaii-Hilo upended Grand Canyon 2-1 in double overtime a women's college soccer match yesterday in Phoenix.
Cherise Lee scored 23 seconds into the second overtime on a pass play from Megan Pachecano and Vanessa Butin to give the Vulcans (7-5, 4-1 Pacific West).
Kristen Grant scored on a penalty kick for the Vulcans at the 70-minute mark to tie it at 1-all after Carissa Robertson was cut down in the penalty box.
The Antelopes dropped to 3-10-2 and 3-3-1.

Dustin Daley had the lone goal for the Vulcans (5-8, 2-3 PacWest).
The Antelopes improved to 8-4-3 and 6-0.
» Notre Dame de Namur got two goals from Catherine Ponce on the way to a 4-1 victory over Hawaii Pacific yesterday at Belmont, Calif.
Ely Sarrett-Pilgrim, on a pass from Jamie Hirai, had the lone goal for the Sea Warriors (2-10, 1-5 PacWest).
Notre Dame de Namur improved to 4-8-1 and 3-4.

Andres Caballero scored the game-winner in the 87th minute. It was his team's third straight goal after the Sea Warriors took a 2-0 lead.

Notre Dame de Namur improved to 6-7-1 and 3-3.
