Kenya's Rotich defends Maui title

Kenyan Jacob Rotich cruised to his fourth straight Maui Marathon title yesterday, running the oceanfront course in 2 hours, 29 minutes and 22 seconds.

Julie Doheney of Kailua won the women's division in 3:18:39.

Jonah Maiyo pushed Rotich for the first 9 miles before falling off the pace to finish third behind Leighton Katsuda of Wailuku.

Midori Funabashi of Japan finished second in the women's race in 3:21:11 and Fumiko Irokawa of Japan was third in 3:21:55.
