Brady earns Physician of the Year title

The Hawaii Medical Association recognized Dr. S. Kalani Brady's dedication to community service Saturday with the Physician of the Year Award at its annual medical ball at the Sheraton Waikiki.

Dr. Myron E. Shirasu received the President's Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical community. Dr. Cynthia J. Goto was inaugurated as the association's new president.

The HMA's sixth annual Ola Pono Ike ("Health Is Knowledge") Medical Ball & Silent Action will donate part of the proceeds to the Hawaii Medical Foundation, a charitable foundation that supports quality health care in Hawaii.

Faye Kennedy has been elected to a second, two-year term as president of the Hawaii Women's Political Caucus.

Other officers elected at the organization's recent annual meeting and board meeting were Nanci Kreidman and Allicyn Hikida Tasaka, vice presidents; Caroline Wilcox, treasurer; and Pua Auyong-White, secretary. Directors elected were Amy Agbayani, Diane Chang, Gladys Gerlich-Hayes, Alice Tucker and Joy Kobashigawa Lewis.

The Hawaii Women's Political Caucus, established in 1981, was founded with the goal of increasing women's participation in the political process and increasing their representation in elected and appointed office.
