Hurricanes to play 18 home games
The Hawaii Hurricanes of the American Basketball Association announced yesterday that the franchise has secured Blaisdell Arena as its home venue and issued a tentative home schedule.
The Hurricanes, coached by former University of Hawaii standout and assistant coach Alika Smith, are scheduled to make their home debut on Nov. 11, part of an 18-game home slate running through early March.
The Hurricanes will play in the ABA's Western Division, which includes teams in Las Vegas, California, Washington and Oregon.
Home games are also scheduled for Nov. 13; Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11; Jan. 7, 8, 13 and 15; Feb. 3, 5, 10, 11, 25 and 26; and March 2 and 4.
Eldredge clinic set for Aug. 4
The fourth Eldredge Athletics Youth Baseball clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Punahou School baseball field. The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dave, Pal, Duane and Boy Eldredge will be joined by other notable Hawaii coaches. Chad Konishi, Garret Yukumoto, Todd Koishigawa, Mark Hirayama, Billy Pieper, Brian Zablan, Scot Paiva, Mike Moss and Dunn Muramaru will also instruct.

Sea Warriors sign relief pitcher
Benjamin Garner will join the Hawaii Pacific baseball team, the school announced yesterday.
Garner pitched at Tacoma (Wash.) Community College last year, posting a 1.29 ERA with 12 saves and earning all-conference honors.
