City honored for financial reporting
The
City and County of Honolulu earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 20th time in 21 years.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the honor for the financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2006.
Mary Pat Waterhouse, director of the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services, also received an award of Financial Reporting Achievement.
She credited her deputy director, Patrick Kubota, as the person primarily responsible for the award-winning report.

The Queen's Medical Center gave its Nursing Excellence Awards to the following:
Carol Lieban of the oncology unit (Clinical Practice category); Brittany Patterson, surgical unit (Education); Kathryn Omine, outpatient oncology unit (Leadership); Jean Imler, oncology unit (Performance Improvement); and Betty McMullen, Same-Day Surgery Department (Research/Evidence-Based Practice).
The Queen Emma Nursing Leadership Award was given to Lydia Kumasaka, clinical coordinator in the Pain and Palliative Care Department.
