Inouye, Tanoue picked to coach Iolani golf
Iolani has hired Dr. Glenn Inouye as its new varsity girls golf coach.
Inouye coached the Raiders intermediate team since 2002 and played for Iolani and Whitman College.
Shawn Tanoue has been hired to coach the Iolani boys varsity golf team. He was a Loyola Marymount golfer after playing for the Hawaii Baptist Academy golf team in high school.
Kamehameha alum Hewett gains CPC honor
Christa Hewett was named the California Pacific Conference Libero of the Week this week after setting a Menlo College team record with 40 digs against Dominican as the Oaks took over first place in the conference standings.
Hewett (Kamehameha '04), a junior, won the honor for the fourth time this season.
HPU to host its Halloween Hoop-La at Blaisdell
Hawaii Pacific University will host basketball trick-or-treat activities Oct. 26 when it holds its annual Halloween Hoop-La first practice at Blaisdell Arena.
The event will include costume contests, trick-or-treating, games, inflatable bouncers and interaction with HPU players, coaches, cheerleaders and the dance team and band.
Hoop-La runs from 4:40 to 8:30 p.m., and includes scrimmages and free-throw contests by the Sea Warriors' basketball teams. The event is free, parking is free and Halloween costumes are encouraged.
