Symposium on Korean cinema
Explore the world of Korean cinema at a symposium Friday at the Center for Korean Studies auditorium at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
Speakers at the Symposium on the Korean Film Industry are mentors in the Korean Film Council Filmmakers Development Lab, which runs through Sunday:
» Johnathan Kim, chairman of the Korean Film Producers Association and president of Hanmac Films. He produced the film "Silmido."
» Chul Shin, president of the Shincine production company and producer of "The Gingko Bed," "A Good Lawyer's Wife" and "My Sassy Girl" (pictured).
» Henry Kim, director of the Korean Film Council.
Wimal Dissanayake, a scholar of Asian films, will moderate.
The event is free and runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m.; parking is $3. Call 956-7041.
