Letters to the Business Editor
'Pro-Hawaiian' letters are 'anti-investment'
I have to believe that I must be missing something here. ... The letters heading your way are understandably "pro-Hawaiian," but also very "anti-investment." I keep seeing all this "Hawaiian" news press coming across when it comes to airline competition in the Hawaii marketplace.
The problem that I have is when a business (in this case Mesa Air Group) is willing to accept the risks associated with starting up in (this case a distant location) Hawaii, make a substantial investment in the region, source local resources to market and staff this business, and then the readership for your newspaper expect what else?
No, I do not live locally; hence my curiosity here in order to understand same.
I find it difficult to believe that Hawaiians fail to see how go!'s marketing and promotion dollars are being spent, jobs are being created, and investment in infrastructure is being made.
How can the Hawaii traveling marketplace not be thankful to Mesa Air Group for the vision that they have in bringing a proven, professional, and competitive player into this space.
Further, I believe that judgment on go! is not that whether they are truly Hawaiian or not, but whether they provide a reliable, safe, and cost-effective transportation option to the Hawaiian traveling public. Any other requirements seem distant. I have to believe that others see this in a similar light.
Maybe it is because living in Florida, where many locally headquartered airlines have come and gone, we are less brand selective with airlines.
P.S. On www.airlineapps.com, Mesa is hiring 200 pilots by the end of July.

Isles airline competition being watched from afar
Re:
Aloha Airlines article on July 21, great interview with (Aloha Airlines Chairman and CEO David) Banmiller.
It will be interesting to see how three-way interisland competition plays out this time.

New airline makes travel easy, cheap
My husband and I just flew on go! Airlines. I'm very impressed with the overall service we encountered, from checking in to even the baggage handlers. Thank you, Mesa Air, for coming to the islands. I commend you for starting up business in this tight marketplace. ...
We travel interisland once a month, and the airfares were getting ridiculously high. Now, more locals can afford to travel interisland and visit relatives. The people of Hawaii should support go! Airlines. "I going, go on go! Airlines."
P.S. I do not work for go! Airlines.
