VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Read aloud to kids
Exercise those vocal cords through the Read Aloud Program this fall.
The literacy program fondly known as RAP needs volunteers in the Leeward area to read to elementary schoolchildren at Mililani Uka, Nanaikapono in Nanakuli and August Ahrens in Waipahu.
Adults and teens are invited to help with the six-part RAP sessions that begin in mid-August. Sessions run from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on one evening every other week. Substitute readers who can help out on short notice are also needed.
A training session takes place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Read Aloud America office at the Dole Cannery.
