Red Cross offers free summer swim classes
Children and adults are welcome to participate in the beach sessions
The Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering free summer swim classes for children and adults at Ala Moana Beach Park starting tomorrow.
Registration is required by visiting www.hawaiiredcross.org or picking up applications at any Jamba Juice, or by calling 739-8146.
Adult classes for ages 14 and over will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Adults will be divided into three groups: nonswimmers to beginners, advanced beginners (those who can float and kick well and know most swimming strokes) and intermediate swimmers (those who are competent and want to become better).
For adults, Session I will be held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and June 12, 14, 15, 19, 21 and 22.
Session II: June 26, 28 and 29, and July 10, 12, 13, 17, 19 and 20.
Session III: July 24, 26, 29 and 31, and Aug. 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10.
Classes for children, from ages 4 through 13, will be held Saturdays from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. They will be divided into three groups by age and experience, including ages 4 to 5, or nonswimmer (red flag); ages 5 to 7, or some experience (blue flag); and ages 8 to 13, or no experience to good swimmer (green flag).
For children, Session I will be held tomorrow, June 10, 17 and 24, and July 8.
Session II: July 15, 22 and 29, and Aug. 5 and 12.
The classes will be held on the Magic Island side of Ala Moana near the showers and lifeguard station 1-E.
