Glitch delays mailing of bus-pass stickers
The company that manages the city bus system said yesterday that 894 senior citizen bus-pass holders did not receive their updated annual pass sticker.
Oahu Transit Services Inc. blamed the mistake on a glitch in a mailing database file by its vendor.
The November 2006 stickers will be mailed in the next few days, company officials said. In the meantime, TheBus will honor passes with November 2005 stickers until Dec. 18.
Seniors who do not receive the sticker by Dec. 12 should contact TheBus' customer service department at 848-4500.
Wetlands tour offers glimpses of bird life
A wetlands bird tour of the Kailua Ahupuaa will be conducted Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wildlife biologist Ron Walker will take the tour group to the proposed Kawainui marsh restoration project, Hamakua and Kaelepulu wetlands, the Kawainui Marsh Estuary and the Na Pohaku wetland habitat.
Participants are asked to bring binoculars or spotting scopes. Donations of $5 will be accepted. For reservations, contact Chuck Burrows at 595-3922 or chuckb@ hawaii.rr.com.

Molokai man killed while out hunting
WAILUKU » Police detectives are investigating yesterday's death of a Molokai hunter.
Police Sgt. Newell Makahanaloa said authorities received the call about 2:07 p.m. that somebody had been shot with a firearm. He said no one in the hunting party has been arrested. An autopsy was scheduled for the 41-year-old man.
Makahanaloa said the shooting occurred in the Waiakane area, west of Kaunakakai in central Molokai. "It's still an ongoing investigation," he said.
Kauai woman last heard from in July
Kauai police want help finding a 32-year-old woman who last made contact with her family in July.
Laura Catherine Holschen, also known as Sage, could be living in remote Kalalau Valley, police said. Holschen is described as 5 foot 6, about 115 pounds, and has brown eyes and medium-length black hair. She has a sun tattoo on the inside of her right ankle and a tattoo that looks like a toe ring on her right foot.

Man allegedly exposes himself to 2 females
Police charged a 23-year-old Wahiawa man with exposing himself on two separate occasions Tuesday.
Alexander Lenchanko was charged with two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor. Police said Lenchanko was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself to a 14-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman in Hawaii Kai. He was released yesterday morning after posting $4,000 bail.

Missing Waipahu man is found safe in store
A 49-year-old Waipahu man who was reported missing was found safe about 7:30 a.m. yesterday at the Wal-Mart on Keeaumoku Street in Honolulu.
Randall Young, who is mentally challenged, was last seen at 2 p.m. Monday at Grocery Outlet on Dillingham Boulevard. He has been reported missing on prior occasions and was found then in the Kaimuki and Ala Moana areas.
Girl arrested after wearing stolen jewelry
Police arrested a 13-year-old girl after she allegedly wore stolen jewelry to school earlier this week.
Police said the suspect's teacher saw the girl wearing large pieces of jewelry to school on Monday and, after checking with her parents, discovered that the jewelry had been stolen from another family member.
The teacher recovered the jewelry and turned it over to the suspect's parents. Police later arrested the girl for investigation of second-degree theft.
